Nathalie Hambro has designed two dramatic, minimalist steel sculptures to complement the bold statement of Khōra Spaces as well as the concept of the garden.  Nathalie explains: Louis Calmels and I share a similar artistic aesthetic and industrial-inspired vision.  The Dome is an amazing structure and makes a striking impact, and my sculptures echo this approach. The two environmental works are imposing yet restrained, and their height draws one’s eyes upwards to the sweeping curvature of the dome. I also want the viewer to interact with the pieces, so both are dynamic, creating movement and sound.

One of the sculptures Pendular Curvature is a dramatic grouping of arched steel elements with kinetic qualities. The other work Random Rhythm, which Nathalie describes as a stylised interpretation of bullrushes, is a grouping of tall parallel rods which when stroked create motion and sounds, as they strike randomly against each other.  Both are unique pieces made of high density steel and bear Nathalie’s signature finish, playing with darkness and light.  My aim was to create sculptures that are visually engaging and at the same time challenge our senses.
